CLUB FOOTBALL TEAM TO FACE OFF AGAINST BARNSTABLE The Boys and Girls Club traveling junior high football team will open the season at home by taking on their Barnstable counterparts at the high school football field next Wednesday, Sept. 26. Game time is around 4 p.m.

ADULT SKATE AT NANTUCKET ICE Adult skate classes at Nantucket Ice begin Sunday, Sept. 23, and will be held every Sunday at 5 p.m. Pre-register or drop in to any class. All levels of skaters are welcome. Call Nantucket Ice at 228-2516 for more information.

In other Nantucket Ice news, registration for the men's and rec hockey leagues must be done by Friday, Sept. 21. Men's league play is Monday night and rec league play is Wednesday.

INSHORE CLASSIC CONTINUES There's still time to sign up for the second annual Nantucket Inshore Classic fishing derby that runs through Oct. 15. Anglers fish from beach or boat for the biggest bass, blue, bonito or false albacore. Register at any island tackle shop or at the Nantucket Anglers' Club.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call 228-0206.
