(PG-13, 90 min.) Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reprise their roles as Inspectors Lee and Carter, respectively. In the third film of the series, the detectives are hot on the trail of the Triads, a crime organization whose members shoot the Chinese ambassador and then kidnap his daughter. All of this is backstory for the slapstick hijinks that have made the series so snackable to filmgoers. Matt Damon reprises his role as Jason Bourne, the lethally conditioned human weapon with amnesia gone rogue. As he continues to avoid being hunted down and assassinated by the CIA, Bourne finally learns the truth about his secret past in this third, high energy Bourne film - touted by many as the best of the trilogy. Wed., Sept. 5 and Thurs., Sept. 6, 9:30 p.m. "My Best Friend" (Rated PG-13 for some strong language; 94 min.) Acurmudgeonly antique dealer, Francois, takes a bet from his female business partner, who doesn't believe he has any real friends: If the sourpuss can provide a meeting with his oftmentioned "best friend," she will let him keep an expensive vase bought with company money. After a scramble to find someone to fill the role, Francois recruits a personable cabby named Bruno, and all manner of French subtitles ensue.
"Nanny Diaries" (Rated PG-13 for language; 106 min.) Based on the bestselling work of confessional fiction, "The Nanny Diaries" features Scarlett Johansson as a young college student who finds herself in a whirl of familial dysfunction and ridiculousness after taking a job as a nanny for a wealthy Manhattan family. Fri., Sept 7 and Sat., Sept. 8, 9:30 p.m. "Becoming Jane" (Rated PG for brief nudity and mild language; 112 min.) Anne Hathaway stars in this romantic period piece about Jane Austen, pre-fame, and the love affair with an Irishman that shaped her passionate novels for the better.
"Death at a Funeral" (Rated R for language and drug content; 90 min.) An almost-dark comedy about a young man who tries to expose the torrid secrets of a dead patriarch at the man's funeral. Directed by Frank Oz, winner of the Audience Award at the 2007 Locarno Film Festival.
