Miacomet Golf Course to redo original nine holes
Miacomet Golf Course began upgrading its original holes yesterday, meaning the course will temporarily revert to nine holes throughout the fall and winter. While work on the new holes is underway, play will begin

on hole number 10, move over to 18 and continue on holes 3 through 9.

Play will be limited to nine holes during the length of course reconstruction to give everyone the opportunity for tee times, course general manager Alan Costa said. Work commenced on holes one and two. Costa said the original holes will be completely renovated, including fairways and new greens. The tee boxes have already been renovated and will not require additional work. When finished, the old holes will look and play similar to the new nine, Costa said.

Miacomet's new nine opened four years ago this fall and intermingled with the original nine holes laid out by Ralph Marble and former Nantucket High School athletic director Dick Coffin. Costa said the two new holes on the back nine will be out of play during the course reconstruction and that the course will eventually be pared to 7 holes during the winter while work is done to holes10 and 18.

Lunch will continue to be served at the clubhouse daily until Nov. 1 when hours will be cut back and dinner will also be served throughout the winter, according to Costa.
