G.S. Hill shows Nantucket Then & Now
Island artist Greg Hill unveils a fascinating series of portraits this week at the G.S. Hill Gallery at 40 Straight Wharf. Hill committed photos of historic Nantucket to wood and canvas, then followed up with portraits of the scenes from the current day. All of the works are done in oil. "I wanted to show that there is change, but it's a good change," said Greg. "It's really fun and exciting to look at an old photograph and pretend you're the photographer ... and the landscaper. I trimmed some branches. This is going to be a fun show." The artist and his wife, Judi, will be holding an opening
