PLAY GOLF FOR NCH Nantucket Cottage Hospital's annual benefit golf tournament, Swing for Nantucket Cottage Hospital, will be held Monday, September 10, at Sankaty Head Golf Club. Registration for the Golf Tournament, which includes an afternoon round of golf, BBQ luncheon and evening awards ceremony, is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Also included in the event, whose title sponsor is Seward and Joyce Johnson, is a Pre-Tournament Reception & Charity Auction, to be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 9, also at Sankaty Head Golf Club.

Again this year, golfers will have the opportunity to compete for the possibility to win a 2008 Ford Edge from Don Allen Ford for the first person to sink a hole-in-one on the 6th hole.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will enable Nantucket Cottage Hospital to continue its efforts to provide quality medical and patient care, while offering prevention programs and state-of-the-art services. As the island's only critical access hospital, NCH provides general medical, surgical, maternity and emergency services and specialized departments, including expanded Rehabilitation, Chemotherapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation and a Special Care Unit.

For more information, or to register for a fun round of golf and enjoyable evening at the reception, call 508-825- 8250.

KILIMANJARO CONQUERED Nantucket seasonal resident John Serafini founded Mountains for Miracles with friends from Harvard Business School and John F. Kennedy School of Government to support the fight against cancer. In June 2007, Serafini and six other hikers completed their first climb to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, raising $50,000 for pediatric cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund.

"Every step we take makes a difference in the fight against childhood cancer," says Serafini. "Mountains for Miracles is ready to soar to new levels by encouraging more hikers to join future expeditions to help raise much needed funds."

Mountains for Miracles plans to host a second hike in January 2008 up Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain in all of the Americas, to raise $40,000 more for the Jimmy Fund. Another hike up Kilimanjaro is slated for June 2008. Interested climbers and supporters should go to www.jimmyfund.org/mountains
