While my work is representational (realism not abstract) I try to push beyond the subject so the painting becomes more important than the subject. I'm not concerned with recording things exactly as they are. I want the paintings to have life and character so a viewer might relate to it in more than one way. They may be attracted to the subject but also taken in by the color and texture of the paint itself."
