LITTLE LEAGUE FALL BALL REGISTRATION Registration for Nantucket Little League fall ball is now underway. New and returning players are invited to register for Tee Ball (ages 5- 6), Minor League (ages 7-12), Major League (ages 9-12) and Softball (ages 7-12). Returning players will be placed in their spring season leagues. New players will be placed on a team according to age.

The season will begin on Sept. 8 and continue for 6 weeks through Oct. 21. Each team will have one practice and one game per week. There will be no rain dates and no concession stand available. All games will be at the Delta Fields.

Registration forms have been sent to returning players. New players can pick up registration packets at A. K. Diamond's at the hostess area downstairs. Registration is $20. Registration forms and checks can be left at A. K. Diamond's or mailed to Jeanne Diamond, 16 Macy Lane, 02554. Questions? Call Jeanne Diamond at 325-3442.

Nantucket Little League is also looking for fall ball team sponsors. Each sponsorship is $300 and allows the league to provide each player with a uniform and cap. Team sponsors will have the business name printed on the back of each uniform. Call 325-3442 to be a sponsor.

PALANDJIANS WIN AT LONGWOOD Former professional tennis player Peter Palandjian and his daughter Manon Palandjian, who recently celebrated her 16th birthday, won two matches Tuesday, August 7, to win the fee-in back-draw tournament and finish fifth overall at the USTA National Father- Daughter Tennis Championships at the Longwood Cricket Club in Brookline.

Palandjian had not played a competitive tournament like this since Wimbledon in 1989. The 43-year-old Palandjian is the Chairman and CEO of Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation. The family lives in Belmont and Nantucket.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel-measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
