Lightning hits house on High Brush Path Fire Chief Mark McDougall said that was the most serious incident resulting from the storm, although about 40 alarms went off when the electrical current to them was interrupted when lightning hit in other areas. The resident of 92 Vestal St. reported believing that the house may have been struck twice, but fire personnel found no evidence of damage at the scene. The alarm also went off at the high school; however no damage was discovered there, either, said McDougall. There were several citizen reports of loud lightning, including about a halfdozen people who called from the High Brush area saying they thought a strike had occurred somewhere in the vicinity. "Everything turned out okay," said McDougall. "It was a short storm but there was some good, solid lightning coming out of it. It kept us running for a while. It hit High Brush first and then moved north." I - Mary Lancaster |
