RECYCLING REVENUES
FY 2002 - FY 2007
The town receives 100 percent of the revenues generated from the sale of recyclable materials, though it has to pay the expense of shipping the items from the landfill to mills or factories where they are remade into new products. DPW documents listing the categories of cardboard, plastic, steel, aluminum and beverage cans show income from sales of those items from Oct. 4, 2001 through May 16, 2007 with gains on the rise for the final two fiscal years. Cardboard and aluminum bring in the most money. Recycling revenue is deposited into the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund from which costs to run the landfill are paid.
