TWILIGHT 5K AND KIDS FUN RUN NEXT WEEK

The eleventh annual Twilight 5K and kids fun run will take place next Thursday, August 9, at 6 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton Streets. Sign up for the race is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the starting line. There is a $25 fee. For information, call 508-825-7456.

ACCESSPORT BIATHLON THIS SATURDAY

The AccesSport Biathlon to benefit Nantucket Community Sailing disabled athlete programs, will be held this Saturday, August 4, at 10 a.m. The fun run/walk begins at Jetties Beach and goes to Brant Point Light and back. The walk will be followed by Hawaiian outrigger canoeing. Donation is $10 for children and $25 for adults. Call NCS at 228-6600 for more information.

21ST BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY BENEFITS FOOD PANTRY

The 21st annual Beach Volleyball Day to benefit the Nantucket Food Pantry will take place Sunday, August 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or until the end of the elimination rounds), and will be held rain or shine. The event is limited to the first 24 registered teams and is a coed format.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
