I ON SELECTMEN

PattyRoggeveen
AT ITS MEETING TONIGHT, AUG. 1, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN WILL:

• Hear requests from Capital Programs Committee at-large member Matthew Mulcahy, Nantucket Historical Commission member Aaron Marcavitch, Commission on Disability member Richard Moran and Parks and Recreation Commission member Leslie Johnson to accept their resignations. Mulcahy cited his appointment to the Finance Committee and Marcavitch cited his new role as Executive Director of the Nantucket Housing Office and a baby on the way as their issues. Moran expressed displeasure at only being appointed for a one-year term after demonstrating devoted meeting attendance and Johnson named time conflicts with the day the commission meets as reasons for stepping down.

• Hear a request for approval of a disclosure of financial interest from Carl England, Jr., an Airport Commissioner who has entered into airport lease agreements.

• Hear a request to accept a sewer easement grant from the Aurora Way Owners Association Trust.

• Hear a request from the nonprofit Nantucket Homes for People on behalf of homeowners in the Abrem Quary development to waive duplicate fees.

• Hear an annual presentation of the Transportation Improvement Program which includes a four-year listing of projects eligible to receive federal and state funding. Projects from 2008 through 2011 include the Nobadeer Farm Road bike path, realignment of the four corners intersection and phases one and two of the Hummock Pond Road bike path.

AT ITS MEETING ON JULY 25, THE BOARD CONVENED AS THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND:

• Unanimously approved the acceptance of bike and pedestrian easements at 39 Nobadeer Farm Road.

• Unanimously approved assent to Land Court petitions for properties on Nonantum Avenue, Monomoy Road and Prospect Street.

CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, MEMBERS:

• Unanimously denied a request from Eagle Lane resident Andrew Dey to remove a public shade tree he said will interfere with renovations to buildings on his property. Tree warden Dave Champoux spoke against removing the approximately 75-year-old catalpa tree and said he would like a 10-foot buffer around it during the work so the tree is preserved. Champoux also volunteered to supervise the tree's health.
