Ten of my favorite things:
with Miss Fairchild's Daddy Wrall
On April 21, the Rose and Crown had standing room only when people came out of their winter holes to hear Miss Fairchild. Not everyone can fill a house on a rainy night in April, but the Bostonbased Pop- Funk band has created a pretty stalwart group of fans.

Fronted by Daddy Wrall (a.k.a. Travis Richard), the band puts out more Nantucket funk than an old ship's hull. Recently, the band released "Miss Fairchild Presents the Miss Fairchild Mixtape" and launched "a full-on Fairchild assault on Nantucket," booking a series of shows at the Rose and Crown mothership (23 S. Water Street), including a show this Friday, July 27, at 9 p.m.

Daddy Wrall is joined by multi-instrumentalist Schuyler Dunlap and producer Samuel P. Nice, a.k.a "Sammy Bananas of Certified Bananas." The band got together on Nantucket, but now only Wrall lives here year-round.

For more on what what makes Daddy Wrall happy, in his own words, read on

1) Homemade Ice Cream. My Lady Love and I have been known to create the most rich, custard-y vanilla ice cream on known to Man. Possibly too rich...? Wait a minute, what am I saying!

2) Fronting Miss Fairchild, the tightest Funk band this side of the Original JB's. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dynamite.

3) Michael McDonald on a Sunday. (And, no, Mr. McDonald is not the secret ingredient in the aforementioned ice cream. That's just weird, people!) We're talking "God's Day," Sunday. And this is His music: - the bearded, blue-eyed bellowing of Michael McDonald. I recommend his Christmas album for any day of the year.

4) Bringing Joy Through Music. Miss Fairchild's music and live performance not only bring the band a huge sense of fulfillment and purpose, but the feelings are shared by our audiences across the country. Upon leaving the stage, we are regularly greeted with confessions like, "I was having the worst (day/week/year!) until your show tonight!"

5) Dining Out. The boys of Miss Fairchild like to eat good food. And I, for one, enjoy well crafted drinks. That makes Nantucket an fantabulous home for a Fairchild Funkateer.

6) Espresso. Soy lattes, espresso martinis, double-shot on ice, etc. I'd like to thank Bethany Lindley for getting me that espresso machine, way back when. You've unknowingly created a coffeecraving monster!

7-10) Sly Stone. James Brown. Prince. Larry "With a Big 'Ol G" Graham. Looking for an explanation? It's easy. Go to www.missfairchild.com and download our FREE Miss Fairchild Mixtape or snag a copy in person at the Rose & Crown tomorrow night! Trust me,

you'll get it. I
