"The Giant of Seville: A 'Tall' Tale Based on a True Story"
by Dan Andreasen This heartwarming tale about a small town opening its doors to a former circus giant tells the story of real-life character Captain Martin Van Buren Bates. Captain Bates arrives in the sleepy town of Seville, Ohio, after traveling the world with the circus. He'd been seeking a quiet place to settle down with his giant wife, but it seemed he was just "too big for every town." But the townspeople of Seville demonstrate concern not only for Captain Bates' warmth and nourishment, but for his happiness as well. Everything about the visual presentation - decorative borders, softly colored illustrations with cross-hatching, use of an old circus font and the tall book format - fits the subject matter perfectly. Children in grades PreK - 4 will learn a bit of history while hearing this uplifting tall tale.

"Dinner Rush"
(Rated R for language, some violence and
sexuality.)
Directed by Bob Giraldi, "Dinner Rush" is a well-acted ensemble drama/dark comedy, set in a busy Tribecca restaurant over the course of one evening. Owner Louis (Danny Aiello) wants to retire from the bookie business, but his mom-and-pop operation is now the most-sought restaurant in town thanks to his hot-shot son, Udo who wants to take over the reins. The customers include a demanding food critic (Sandra Bernhard), a first time patron who isn't what he seems (John Corbett), a snobby artist and a couple of mobsters. Soon, the viewer is served up several subplots that deliciously come together. Oh, and the food is amazing.
