week-old osprey chick that was banded and measured yesterday by intern

Rob Carr, under the supervision of Dr. Bob Kennedy, the Maria Mitchell Association's Director of Natural Science. The boys'Discovery Class accompanied

Kennedy and Carr to the nesting site near Madaket Ditch, one of 15 on

Nantucket that the Maria Mitchell scientists are watching over this season.

The chick is still nest-bound, but will learn to fly in another month.
