GIFT FOR THE GARDEN
To the editor:
As one of several 2007 recipients of a grant to continue improving our 1820 garden, I would like to express my deep gratitude for the support of the Nantucket Garden Club. The grant makes possible the researching, purchasing and maintaining of our antique rose collection, the research library which includes rare botanical books, the dated narcissus and other bulbs, as well as our other historic variety of herbs, fruits and flowers. During our eight-year history, the garden surrounding our 1820s house has become an integral part of the Museum. Through this grant, the Nantucket Garden Club is an important partner in our efforts to present to our visitors and neighbors a demonstration of what could have been found on Nantucket at that time.
Funds used for grants are raised during the Garden Club's August House Tour. We applaud the many hours volunteered to make the tour successful each year and the wonderful contribution to so many organizations that the tour makes possible.
We join with our fellow grantees in thanking the Garden Club for its support.
Sincerely,
- Albert L'Etoile Executive Director Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum
