SIMPLY 'SCONSET
'Sconset is almost literally the end of the earth - where the warm sand meets the cool blue-green sea. Bright white trim meets weathered, grey cedar. And perfect, emerald lawns and hedges meet the bluest of blue skies. Here, there is no work, no outside world, no cares, no worries. Here, the beauty of place is stunning. The sun is blinding. And the memories are warm and lasting. The experience that is 'Sconset is captured perfectly at 19 Cannonbury Lane/4 Reaper Circle (a place so wonderful, it has two addresses). Imagine your feet crunching on the white shell driveway as you walk up to the back deck and enter the like-new upsidedown main house. This being 'Sconset where even the most formal activities are done in an informal way, the home has no official "front door." Instead, it has several entrances, one on the side facing the street which leads to a downstairs common area and the stairway leading to the kitchen. A second to the rear of the home that takes you past an outdoor shower and into a conveniently located mud room/laundry area - a perfect path to take after spending the morning at the beach nearby. Finally there are two other entrances under a covered porch to the east of the main house, either of which takes you to one of two guestrooms. (This is the path your guests will take when returning from the Summer House after last call or on the way to an early morning jog on the beach without disturbing anyone else in the house…shh!)
Climb the stairs here and the first thing you see when you reach the top is a large and dramatic, raised hearth, faced in simple but lustrous blond hardwood. Opposite the fireplace is a sizeable sitting area with distant water views from the large windows. A few steps further, past the entrance to the master bedroom suite (we'll get to that, rest assured) and you reach the open kitchen and dining area - the most-visited room in the house. Here a kitchen island topped with rich, dark, polished granite doubles as a breakfast bar and a working prep area. The sink and dishwasher are also integrated into the island. Behind the island, a large, fiveburner, gas cook top sits above a restaurantgrade oven and below a large and handy microwave. To the side, the massive refrigerator reflects sunlight in its monolithic stainless steel form.
Coming full circle, you once again find yourself outside the master bedroom suite. This time you enter and find a calming, spacious room, with interesting roof angles and quaint alcoves. To the side, a door leads to a private back deck. Straight ahead, there's the master bath with a large tub and shower combination, dual sinks and plenty of light and air.
Between the two structures, hidden behind tall, thick privet and weathered cedar fencing is a luxurious, and very private, oval swimming pool. The second outdoor shower - a nice touch - awaits nearby.
This spectacular four-bedroom five-bath 'Sconset home, a short distance from private, deeded, beach access and a 10-minute stroll from the center of 'Sconset, is offered at $3,200,000.
