"Be Near Me" by Andrew O'Hagan The narrator of O'Hagan's fourth novel is Father David Anderton; part Scottish but raised in England, he was educated at Oxford and in Rome and is fond of fine food and wine. He is assigned to Dalgarnock - a once prosperous but now economically moribund town. Anderton's bourgeoisie sensibility is a wall between him and his parishioners, most of whom revile him. The exceptions are his critical and delightful housekeeper, Mrs. Poole, and Mark and Lisa, two reckless teenagers whose friendship Anderton seeks to maintain at his peril. As always, O'Hagan's novel is replete with wonderful minor characters, a searching look at Scottish identity and the consequences of love and loss.

"Bridge to Terabithia" (Rated PG for thematic elements including bullying,
some peril and mild language.) Based on the popular children's book by Katherine Paterson, "Bridge to Terabithia" is a film that will appeal to both kids and adults. Two outcast fifth graders having issues both at school and at home become inseparable friends; everyday after school, they escape to Terabithia, a magical spot in the forest. It's cute and adventurous but also addresses true-life, emotional issues that many preteens face. The film has many likeability factors but there is a twist that might make you feel blindsided if you haven't read the book.

"Miss Potter"
(Rated PG brief mild language.)
Growing up in an upper-class Victorian family, Beatrix Potter was expected to put herself into society and marry an acceptable young man, but this is not the life she wanted for herself. Ever since she was a young child, Beatrix escaped into a world of imagination by creating the stories of Peter Rabbit, and eventually her book finds a publisher (played by Ewan McGregor). Though not deemed an acceptable match by her parents, the two fall in love, and Beatrix creates her own reality - one in which her true personality can shine.

Missions and La Plata" This disc presents examples of Baroque music from the archives of various Jesuit missions in South America. A collection of vocal and instrumental works performed by the Arakaendar Bolivia Choir, Florilegium, with Ashley Solomon as Artistic Director should be an essential for any early-music collection.

"Shadowrun" For Windows Vista and Xbox360
Rated M for Mature Shadowrun is a unique, multiplayer-only, firstperson shooter that combines guns, magic and high-tech gadgets to keep you busy. There are many ways to play, as each player has access to four races and a dozen or so magic spells and tech abilities, all of which are well balanced with each other. It makes for an almost rock-paper-scissors kind of deathmatch. For example, a player can use the smoke spell to make bullets pass right through him, but another player can use the gust spell to deal major damage to players using smoke. Other unique elements include the ability to resurrect fallen teammates and teleport through walls to escape a sticky situation. Experimenting with different character combinations is half the fun, even if it usually comes down to just shooting the guy on the other team. If you enjoy games like "Halo" and are looking for something a bit different, give
