SKATE SAFE SATURDAY Askating demonstration by the region's top skateboarders will be held Saturday, June 23, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the new skate park on Backus Lane.
Dillon Buss will lead the demonstration that will also feature Tim Burlingame, who rides for DC shoes, Zoo York skateboards and Baystate Wheels; Rob Cabral, who rides for I-Path shoes and Baystate Wheels and Jack Kelly, who rides for Emerica shoes.
All island skateboarders and parents are welcome. The event is sponsored by the Park and Recreation Commission, Alliance Against Substance Abuse and the Stop & Shop. Rain date is June 30.
SUMMER HOCKEY Registration forms for anyone interested in participating in the adult co-ed rec league at Nantucket Ice are due this Friday, June 15. Play begins Wednesday, June 20. For more information, call Nantucket Ice at 228-2516

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start and a 5K (3.1 miles) run on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
