IRON TEAMS RELAY THIS SUNDAY There's still time to register for the 27th running of the Iron Teams Relay that takes place this Sunday, June 3. Both individuals and teams can register at the Chicken Box this Saturday, June 2, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., or by calling Kerry Carven at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nantucket at 325-6423.

While 20 teams and individuals had signed up for the relay by last Friday, Carven plans on 30 or more teams and individuals taking part. This is the thirteenth year the Iron Teams Relay will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nantucket.

"It's a great event in that the whole community takes part," Carven said. "It's more about setting goals and accomplishing them - which parallels our mission statement of helping kids - than it is about making money."

The Iron Teams Relay has become a Nantucket tradition. It starts at noon at the corner of Nobadeer Farm Road and Sun Island Road and includes a 2.5 mile run to Monomoy; a .9 mile surfboard paddle to Coatue; a 3.5 mile run along Coatue to Wyers Point; a half-mile swim to Pocomo; a 19-mile bike ride to Madaket (via 'Sconset); and a 6.5 mile run to the Chicken Box.

SUMMER ICE HOCKEY LEAGUE Registration for the Men's League and the Co-Ed Rec League at Nantucket Ice is underway. The Men's League begins Monday, June 11, with the Rec League opener on Wednesday, June 20, with a registration deadline of June 15. For more information, call Nantucket Ice at 228-2516

MATT ERISMAN PLAYS IN NORTH-SOUTH CLASSIC Matt Erisman, a 2003 NHS graduate and recent graduate of Bates College, competed in the Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North- South Classic in Baltimore, Md., on May 25.

Erisman, who played lacrosse for four years at Bates, led the team this season in points (33) and assists (14) and was second in goals (19). He ranked second in the NESCAC in points per game (3.00), ninth in goals per game (1.73) and fifth in assists per game (1.27).

"Being selected to play in the North-South game is one of the great honors that can be bestowed on a college lacrosse player," NHS lacrosse coach Rick Blair said. "Having one of our former players in that game is a real credit to our program.

"Matt holds our all-time scoring record, and has been a major contributor to the Bates program since his freshman year," Blair continued. "The island can be very proud of him."
