"Theft" by Peter Carey "The Economist" sums up Carey's brilliantly worked-out art-fraud plot far better than I can:
"Peter Carey's funny, rumbustious new novel takes on the contemporary art world. ...Written with terrific verbal energy and a snide, lashing sense of humor, 'THEFT' is a marvelous caper, a wicked little love story and a fine mockery of an industry that probably deserves it."

"Evolution for Everyone"
by David Sloan Wilson Among the plethora of books published in recent years on Darwinism, this is one of the most refreshing. Wilson guides the reader through a kind of primer of natural selection, with an approach that charms the reader and personalizes the research that continues to accumulate evidence refining our notion of Darwin's theory. He succeeds in showing how the theory operates in the real world with fascinating examples. Not science at a remove, this is a lively explanation.

"Pan's Labyrinth" (Rated R for graphic violence
and some language.) Ofelia is the unlikely heroine of this stunningly beautiful but yet also dark and haunting fairytale. Ofelia and her mother have traveled to the countryside to live with her new stepfather, the brutal and sadistic Captain Vidal. To escape the grim aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, she loses herself with folklore and fantasy. Ofelia comes to believe she is a princess who has left her underground kingdom and must complete three dangerous tasks so that she can return "home" to her true mother and father. I absolutely loved this film, and after I left the theatre it stayed with me for days. Directed by Guillermo del Toro.

"The Fountain"
(Rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of violent action, some
sensuality and language.) Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weiss star in a film about three parallel love stories set in three different eras - each couple is played by Jackman and Weiss. Jackman is trying to save his wife from a brain tumor in the present day. In all three story lines, Jackman is trying to save his wife from death. In the past, he is searching for the tree of eternal life, in the present he is trying to discover a cure for cancer and in the future, he travels through space. The stories intertwine for a beautiful picture of love and mortality.
