 | | ROB BENCHLEY/The Independent In preparation for the moving of Sankaty Head Lighthouse northeast 400 feet to a new location next to one of Sankaty Head Golf Club's fairway, 280 feet from the edge of the bluff, lighthouse mover International Chimney of Buffalo, N.Y began preparing the lighthouse's new site last week by pouring the concrete slab that will hold the lighthouse level. It is now in the process of readying the foundation forms for an octagonal concrete foundation on which the lighthouse will sit, albeit about seven feet lower than it is now, after International Chimney moves it there on a railway this fall. |
