AT ITS MEETING ON MAY 9, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:
+ Heard a reminder that committee vacancy appointments will be made on June 6. A meeting was held on Monday afternoon, May 14, when the selectmen questioned committee applicants in preparation for the selection process.
+ Heard an announcement that the new one-way street changes would be in effect on Mon., May 14.
+ Heard an announcement that Town Administrator Libby Gibson has been accepted at the John F. Kennnedy School of Government at Harvard University where she will attend a three-week intensive management course in July.
+ Voted unanimously to send a letter to the Joint Committee on Transportation in opposition of House Bill 3681 that would place the Steamship Authority under the Executive Office of Transportation, add a state designee to the board and alter the weight of votes from representatives of Nantucket and the Vineyard.
+ Unanimously approved a request from Police Chief William Pittman to change the 90-minute core downtown parking back to 60-minute spots because his department has had several complaints that parking turns over too slowly with the 90-minute allotment. He also said the 90-minute parking does not comply with the current bylaw allowing downtown parking at between 15 minutes to 60 minutes.
