CITIZEN JOURNALISTS WANTED
ACitizen Journalist, as defined by Wikipedia is "also known as participatory journalism; is the act of citizens playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information."

While there is no money involved in being a Citizen Journalist, there is recognition. There is the good feeling you get from making Nantucket a better place. You do gain experience. And, you will be able to have the stuff you create published in The Independent.

We invite Nantucket residents to submit news stories to The Independent for publication. The stories must be more than 200 words and less than 500 words. Of course, The Independent reserves the right not to print any story we receive. But more to the point, we reserve the right to edit any story we receive. We will edit for:

+ Grammar and Typos + Accuracy

+ Objectivity

So, we don't want stories about Elvis sightings on Main Street, and we don't want stories touting your services, your political positions or your moral beliefs. Aside from that, you can submit stories about anything

What kind of articles should you write about?

+ Things you are involved in - music, sports, organizations, etc. + Things you witness - anything that is interesting + Events you go to - plays, concerts, etc.

+ Things you research - 500 words or less

Please tell your friends about Indie Citizen Journalism, and please contact us with any questions and comments you have. We are looking forward to receiving your submissions.
