Marshfield prevails over girls' varsity squad
Ashley Martin scored three goals and Briana Vittorini added two more, but it wasn't enough for the Lady Whalers Saturday afternoon, as Marshfield rode a balanced attack to an 11-5 victory.

Vittorini opened the game's scoring, but Marshfield answered with four goals before Martin netted her first at the 10:19 mark of the first half. Vittorini would score again before the stanza ended, but Marshfield held the advantage at that point, 7-3.
Marshfield built the lead to 9-3 in the second half before Martin scored her second and third goals of the contest.
Fourth year Whaler goaltender Miranda Dale prevented further Marshfield scoring with several impressive saves as the clock wound down.
Nantucket is 1-4 on the year. After defeating Sturgis in the season's first game, the Lady Whalers have endured tough losses to Martha's Vineyard, Bourne, New Bedford and Marshfield.
