INTENT Increases the parking requirements for secondary dwellings, duplexes, multifamily dwellings and accessory dwellings to basically one per bedroom and removes fractional parking calculations from the bylaw. Also, introduces required parking for studios.

PRO For those who rail against the Planning Board for handing out too many parking waivers to developers, this article should appease them somewhat, as more parking would be required for the aforementioned dwelling units.

CON For some, this article may not go far enough in addressing parking needs in the already denser parts of the island, including downtown Nantucket or may put undue pressure on developers to provide enough parking for their units. For others, it could be perceived as encouraging more vehicles on the island.
