INTENT Although on paper it is a minor technical correction, these articles readjust the boundary line between the RC-2 and LUG-2 and R-2 zoning districts by moving that boundary to the 10-foot contour line from the 20-foot contour line. The measurement is the number of feet above sea level. When Nantucket's zoning maps on paper were transferred to the town's geographical information system (GIS), this boundary line was mistakenly placed on the 20-feet-above-sealevel contour line instead at 10 feet. By moving the contour line, this article takes 16 lots on the east side of Miacomet Avenue out of the RC- 2 and LUG-2 districts and puts them in the R-2 district.

PRO By converting what was once a residential and commercial zone with quarter- and half-acre lots into one with all half-acre lots, the town would be removing the continued threat of further pollution of Miacomet Pond via subdivision of lots and the new septic systems they would require.

CON Property owners banking on subdividing their lots to provide land for their families or to profit from their purchases will probably not be able to slice up their land as thinly as they would have liked.
