"February House" by Sherrill Tippins In 1941, George Davis, literary editor of Harper's Bazaar, gathered together W.H. Auden, Paul Bowles, Benjamin Britten, Gypsy Rose Lee and a 22- yearold, just-published Carson McCullers under one roof in Brooklyn. The ramshackle "February House" was host to an explosion of creativity, madcap parties and odd love affairs. The charm of Sherrill Tippins' "February House" is that the reader need have no prior knowledge of any of it's wonderful cast - the author has drawn her characters vividly and thoroughly for literature lovers and intellectual voyeurs alike.
