      "Grace (Eventually):
        Thoughts on Faith"
            by Anne Lamott

In her latest book, "Grace (Eventually)" ($25), Anne Lamott continues to describe her struggles with faith begun in the bestseller, "Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith." Lamott describes her newest release as a "less angry book" and defines "grace" as "that extra bit of help when you think you are really doomed." An entertaining look into one woman's attempt to articulate her version of Christianity.

      "We Need to Talk About

                    Kevin"
              by Lionel Shriver

"We Need to Talk about Kevin" ($13) isn't new, but it never got a lot of press, and it's amazing. Through a series of heartbreaking letters to her estranged husband, a woman recounts the story of raising their son - an unlovable, screeching infant and then a silent, sullen toddler who grows into a mean-spirited, hateful adolescent who becomes one of the most notorious high school shooters of all time. Told through the eyes of an intelligent, accomplished, career woman, this gutwrenching tale will leave you reeling. The beauty of the prose is as compelling as its terrifying content. I stayed up until 2 a.m. reading this book.
