AT ITS MEETINGWEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:

+ Heard announcements that the new four-way stop at the intersection of Surfside and South Shore roads is in effect, and that the town has been designated by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City for the seventh consecutive year.

+ Unanimously voted to extend the comment period for the Nantucket and Madaket Harbors Plan to April 18. Marine Superintendent Dave Fronzuto explained that more than 70 pages of public comment have been received and need to be processed.

+ Unanimously approved a change of manager at The White Elephant from Denis Barquinero to Eric Landt.

+ Unanimously approved renewal of seasonal liquor licenses for 46 package stores and restaurants. Town Administrator Libby Gibson suggested a public hearing be held on April 18 to address whether the restaurants could begin serving alcohol earlier than the present time of 11 a.m.

+ Unanimously accepted grants of easements for sewer purposes from parcel owners on Old South Road and Pine Crest Drive.

+ Unanimously voted to accept a Land Council's request for a conservation restriction on a 31-acre premises of vacant property on Quidnet Road.

+ Unanimously approved the transfer of common victualler, entertainment and seasonal liquor licenses from Michael's at The Summer House in 'Sconset to Andre Associates, Charles Salliou, manager, and unanimously approved the transfer of common victualler, entertainment and seasonal liquor licenses from Gardenia Associates at The Summer House Beachside Bistro in 'Sconset to Charles Salliou, manager.

+ Unanimously approved an increase in private room rates at Our Island Home from $260 per day for semi-private rooms to $280 a day, and from $280 per day for a private room to $300 a day. The new rates take effect May 1.

+ Continued a hearing on Rob Garrison's proposal to raise oysters near Pimny's Point until May 16. Attorney Rhoda Weinman said her clients on Rabbit Run Road object to the project, a sentiment echoed by attorney Kevin Dale who also has clients on that road.

+ Unanimously approved a public assembly permit and one-day entertainment license for the Nantucket Walk for Autism Research on Aug. 25.

+ Unanimously approved requests from Nantucket Electric Company and Verizon for conduits from West Chester Street to Old Westmoor Farm Road, and pole relocations on Milestone Road and Baxter Road.

+ Unanimously voted to accept a $32,000 gift from the Siasconset Beach Preservation Fund to pay a consultant for the SBPF beach nourishment project.

AT ITS MEETING TONIGHT, MARCH 28, THE SELECTMEN,

CONVENING AS THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, WILL:

+ Hold a public hearing to consider acceptance of damage waivers from property owners providing voluntary easements on Washing Pond Road for public access to the water.

+ Hear a planning department request to accept a conceptual plan for the Nobadeer Farm Road bike path.

CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, MEMBERS WILL:

+ Hear a finance department request to allow the treasurer to borrow $4.9 million as a "tax anticipation note" from Nantucket Bank for 45 days. Treasurer Deborah Weiner explained that this is not uncommon and is to maintain a cash flow until property tax payments begin coming in at the start of May.

+ Hear requests from the Nantucket Land Council for execution of conservation restrictions by the Linda Loring Nature Foundation for 90 and 110 Eel Point Road.

+ Hold a public hearing to determine tax allocations by classification and percentage, if any, of residential exemptions for FY07.

+ Hear a status report on application of the Sewer District criteria of Article 42 for Town Meeting, and take action on a motion for a proposed Sewer Act, which is Article 60 for Town Meeting.

CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF HEALTH, MEMBERS WILL:

+ Hear variance requests for a tight tank septic at 1 Pimny's Point and a well replacement at 265 Madaket Road.

+ Hear an update on septic system inspections in the Nantucket and Madaket watershed areas.

+ Hear the location for a public forum on proposed long-term rental regulations. The forum will be at 6 p.m. on April 23.
