I ON SELECTMEN
AT ITS MEETING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:

+ Unanimously approved a request from the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) to extend shuttle bus parking by 40 feet at the intersection of Main and Washington streets rather than a previous request to seek a 15-foot extension on Washington Street, which would have eliminated one regular vehicle parking space.

+ Voted 4 - 1 (Stover opposed) to sign a Notice of Intent for the Sconset Beach Preservation Fund so the permitting process for a proposed beach nourishment project can move forward to the Conservation Commission.

+ Voted 3 - 2 (Chadwick and Bennett opposed) to investigate a town link to the Yack Internet site to advertise positions open for volunteers on town committees.

+ Heard a town administrator's report on the public safety facility space needs feasibility study. The report was postponed from Feb. 14.

+ Voted 3 - 2 (Chadwick and Bennett opposed) to adopt a checklist of recommendations from the Sewer Advisory Committee on expansion of the town and Sconset sewer districts.

+ Unanimously voted to accept the Town Government Study Committee's final report.

+ Reviewed the selectmen's recommendations on 2007 Town Meeting articles. With Planning Board and Finance Committee recommendations in place, the final warrant was issued at the end of last week and is being printed for mail distribution to residents.

+ Reconsidered a change to the traffic flow on Centre Street between India and Broad streets to keep it two ways along that stretch and voted to rescind its former vote to have that area one way, pending a determination as to whether another public hearing is required.

AT ITS MEETING TONIGHT, MARCH 21, THE SELECTMEN WILL:

+ Hear a request for a change of manager at Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant from Denis Barquinero to Eric Landt.

+ Hear a town administrator's request to approve 2007 seasonal liquor license renewals.

+ Hear a town administrator's request for acceptance of easements for sewer purposes on Old South Road and Pine Crest Drive.

+ Hear a request from the Land Council to execute a conservation restriction on Quidnet Road.

+ Hold a public hearing for the transfer of a common victualler and other seasonal licenses from Michael's at The Summer House to Andre Associates, Charles Salliou, manager, in Sconset.

+ Hold a public hearing for the transfer of a common victualler and other seasonal licenses from Gardenia Associates, d/b/a Summer House Beachside Bistro, to Beachside Associates, Charles Salliou as manager, in Sconset.

+ Hold a public hearing on proposed rate increases for private and semi-private rooms at Our Island Home.

+ Hold a public hearing on Rob Garrison's application for a private shellfish grant near Pimny's Point.

+ Hold a public hearing on an application for an assembly permit and entertainment license for Aug. 25 for a Nantucket Walk for Autism Research.

+ Hold three public hearings on Verizon requests for conduit, pole locations and pole relocations.

+ Hold a public hearing on an HDC appeal by Scott and Meghan Valero (expected to be withdrawn).

+ Hold a public hearing on the final draft of the Nantucket and Madaket Harbors Plan (continued from Feb. 21).

+ Hear a town administrator's request to accept a gift from the Sconset Beach Preservation Fund.

Note: On Thursday, March 22 at noon, the selectmen will meet with the Finance Committee and Town Counsel in the Land Bank conference room to review the proposed Sewer Act (Article 60 on the Town Meeting warrant).
