rin Marie Pearl was born at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on March 11, 2007 weighing 6 pounds and 13 ounces. She is the daughter of Lisa Doran and Charles Pearl of Nantucket. Her grandparents are Michelle Kalman of Nantucket and John White of Dublin, Ireland.
ACHIEVEMENTS Amber Cantella has been named to the position of Food & Beverage Director at The Westmoor Club. After spending many summers working at The Club Car, The Ropewalk and 21 Federal, Cantella moved to Nantucket as a yearround resident in 1999. She has since served as the Floor Manager and Wine Director of 21 Federal. She is also an Independent Wine Consultant and Educator. Amber recently traveled to North Carolina where she passed the level-one examination given by the Court of Master Sommeliers. She is a Certified Wine Professional by Wine Spectator Magazine and a recipient of its Award of Excellence. Prior to Nantucket, she spent five years in Atlanta, GA where she promoted upscale Nightclub openings for the Olympics, produced Fashion Shows and executed charity events. Cantella joins Chef Peter Wallace in directing the overall operations of the food and beverage service at The Westmoor Club, as well as the development and implementation of special events.

hristian F. Fleming has been named to the Dean's list for his excellent academic standing during the first semester of the 2006 - 2007 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. An economics major in his junior year, he is the son of Donna Wiley and Bradford Fleming of Nantucket. Christian spent his fall semester in China as part of a Bates program.
North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jerry Meek announced that John Gardner has been hired as the Finance Director. In that position, Gardner will oversee all fundraising activities of the party. Gardner is the son of Suzanne and Jack Gardner of Nantucket. He is a 1997 graduate of Nantucket High School and a 2001 graduate of Elon University in Elon, N.C. He brings extensive fundraising and campaign experience to the post. Most recently, he served as the North Carolina Finance Director for John Edwards' One America Committee, where he organized donor outreach and coordinated finance and political events for former U.S. Senator John Edwards. Gardner also worked for the Democratic National Committee and the Kerry/Edwards Committee. "John is a great addition to our staff," Meek said. "His expertise and extensive knowledge of North Carolina will serve the Democratic Party well as we prepare for the 2008 elections." Hannah is the daughter of Margaret Hallowell of Nantucket and James Pasman of Allston.
