Dolphins break four records in final meet of season

The Dolphins broke four records, including a league record set in 1993, in Saturday's Southeastern Mass. Swim League championships at Nantucket.

Overall, Nantucket finished second to Marshfield, 1986-1758.

"Although we lost by 228 points, in this style of meet it was fairly close," Dolphins coach Jim Pignato said. "We took eight out of ten in individual high point awards, and definitely had the best talent in the pool."

Over 220 swimmers, ranging in age from 5 to 18, competed. Nantucket had 54 swimmers.

Swimming in her last meet for the Dolphins because her family is moving off-island, Emily Hutchinson earned the high-point award in the 13- to-14-year age group. She also anchored the 200- yard freestyle relay as part of the team that broke the record set in 1993.

Beau Garufibroke the team record in the 50-yard breaststroke with a second place finish, and although he also broke the league record in the event, the first place finisher edged him out.
