I ON SELECTMEN
AT ITS MEETING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN: (Willauer absent)
+ Unanimously approved a request from Town Clerk Catherine Stover (recused from voting) to reappoint six constables whose terms will expire in April 2010. They are Frank Psaradelis, Jr.; F. Manuel Dias; Charles E. Toombs; Jerry W. Adams; John H. Stover; and Catherine Flanagan Stover.

+ Voted 3 to 1 (Stover opposed) to take no action that night on a request by the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) to extend shuttle bus parking on Washington Street by 15 feet towards Coffin Street to accommodate its new, longer buses. The extension would eliminate one regular vehicle parking space.

+ Unanimously agreed, but took no formal vote, to postpone consideration of a request from the Nantucket Energy Study Committee for a selectman liaison. The request will be addressed either when there is a new board after April's elections or when the board names new representatives to town committees in June.

+ Heard a Department of Public Works projects update from the town administrator. There are currently nine major projects in place totaling more than $63 million in costs. They are the first phase of the Brant Point infiltration/inflow and sewer rehabilitation; phase two of the town core area infiltration/inflow and sewer rehabilitation; an infiltration/inflow study of the sewer collection system; the upgrades to the Surfside Wastewater Treatment Facility; the design phase of the storm water outfall construction; sidewalk and handicapped access improvements; paving; mosquito control; and completion of the landfill's recycling building expansion.
