AT ITS MEETING WEDNESDAY, FEB. 21, THE BOARD OF
SELECTMEN, FIRST CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF HEALTH:
(Kopko absent.)
+ Held a public hearing at which the board voted unanimously to accept proposed changes to the weights and measures fees. The change is the first since 1995 and reflects charges of Barnstable county. The new fees are now in effect and will include certifications and charges not levied in the past.
Convening as the Board of Selectmen, members:
+ Unanimously approved Bart Gangemi's request to allow four video games to be installed at his 2 Broad St. business, Tacos Tacos. There were no objections from the police chief to the tabletop units customers can play while waiting for food orders.
+ Unanimously approved Marshall Thompson's request to have seasonal all alcoholic beverage, common victualer and entertainment licenses for the Jetties Beach concession which he will run starting this year. Thompson said he plans to offer table dinner service and casual breakfasts and lunches.

+ Held a public hearing on restrictions on the 2007 liquor license and entertainment license for The Muse with the vote 3 to 1 (Bennett opposed) to place restrictions on the entertainment license. The restrictions prohibit any live music and cessation of other music by 11 p.m. until The Muse has a review hearing with the board on April 25 to address the mandates. Muse owner Michael O'Reilly II must, in the interim, hire someone to address noise mitigation, the nightclub's outdoor lighting configuration and meet with neighbors who have complained about these issues. Attorney Jamie Ranney, who represented The Muse at the hearing and has subsequently withdrawn from the case citing a conflict of interest, objected last Wednesday to the stringency of the restrictions, saying some mitigation efforts have already begun and that his client stands to lose a significant amount of revenue from the entertainment limits.
+ Held an informational discussion on the draft cable TV license renewal. The board took the draft for a new 10-year contract under advisement until a copy with comments is returned to the town from Comcast. One point in debate is whether to seek a five percent surcharge to customer's bills to fund a public access channel which could broadcast a range of island public meetings.

AS THE BOARD OF HEALTH TO:
+ Hear a variance request for a tight tank septic at 3 Sheep Pond Road.
+ Hear an update on a meeting with the Department of Environmental Protection regarding alternate septic technologies for houses in the harbor watershed district.
Convening as the Board of Selectmen, members will:
