Pier Performance:
Working with welders, steel bulkheads and cranes on barges, the crew from Robert B. Our Construction Co., Inc. of Harwich is about 40 percent done building a new boat ramp and two finger piers at Children's Beach. Costing $578,000, the project includes aligning the boat ramp with Harbor View Way, widening the ramp from 23 to 33 feet, lengthening it from 55 to 70 feet, changing its pitch from seven to 11 degrees and making the channel six feet deep at mean low tide. The ramp should be ready for use by March 15 and the piers completed by the end of March.
