NANTUCKET'S Some of MOST ELIGIBLE SINGLES
The methodology behind picking these singles can be explained very quickly - we're not telling you. The process included nominations, phone calls, e-mails, a few closed-door meetings and then some cajoling. Most of our singles were humble when told they'd been nominated and, in keeping with their affable demeanors, didn't want to toot their own horns. We explained to them that The Independent was tooting their horns for them, and that their participation in this story was a public service, a re-kindling of the public romantic fires. The Nantucket Historical Association was kind enough to let us photograph the couples in the Whaling Museum. (FYI: If you've never been there, it might make for an interesting afternoon date. Did you know that no one died during Nantucket's Great Fire?)
Yes, yes, of course, my dream for this article is that it possibly unites a few kindred souls who then marry and make adorable little Nantucket babies. I know this is unreasonable, so I'd settle at the end of the day for a few dates. But that's really up to you, dear readers, now isn't it?
