SKATING FOR YOUTH HOCKEY Eight adult teams took part in the second annual Nantucket Blast Tournament last weekend to benefit Nantucket youth hockey. Teams were fielded in two divisions, with the leading team from each facing off in a championship game. Sponsors of the Great Point Division were: Island Carpet, Don Allen Ford, Nantucket Catering Company and Nantucket Health Club. The Brant Point Division included: Island Landscape, Wingworks, Nantucket Building Company and the Leprechauns.

The Leprechauns were the victors over Island Carpet, 7-3, in the championship game. Nantucket Building Company defeated Nantucket Health Club, 7-4, in the consolation match.

NSSA AWARDS NIGHT The Nantucket Student Soccer Association fall awards program will be held Monday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p. m. in the Nantucket High School auditorium. All parents and players who participated in the fall programs are invited to attend.

Runners meet Saturdays rain or shine at 8:45 a.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 9 a.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
