Elections pool grows as deadline approaches
Candidates for the April 3 elections have 20 days left to gather a minimum of 40 signatures from registered voters and return their nomination papers to the Town Clerk's office by 5 p.m. on Feb. 12.

As of yesterday morning, David Gray, running for the third time for a selectman's seat, and John McLaughlin, an incumbent running for a continued seat on the Historic District Commission, were the only candidates who had already turned in their papers. Others who have taken out papers include: current Planning Board chairman Donald Visco, who seeks another term on the board; Nat Lowell, also running for Planning Board; John Pearl seeking a seat on the 'Sconset Water Commission; and Noreen "Nonie" Slavitz, an incumbent on the Wannacomet Water Commission, who is running again. Steve McCluskey is vying for a seat on the Land Bank Commission as is Peter Kyburg and Robert Gardner. Deborah Timmerman is the most recent contender and has taken out papers for the HDC.
