"Food to Live By"

by Myra Goodman

We first learned of "Food to Live By" in Sarah Chase's column in the Inky. It is a compilation in beautiful full-color of more than 200 recipes along with tips for using fresh, organic foods that the author has grown and prepared on her "Earthbound Farm" and her "Farm Stand's Organic Kitchen." Try the Merlot-Braised Short Ribs on page 119.

"Employee of the Month" (Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, and language.) The film focuses on the dueling libidos of two employees at a Sam's Club-like big box store. Vince Downey (played by Dax Shephard) is a sickeningly good overachiever at the register who has won 17 consecutive "Employee of the Month" awards. Zack Bradley (Dane Cook) is an underachieving stockroom worker. When beautiful Amy (Jessica Simpson) comes to work at the store, the guys begin fighting to be the best worker, because Amy only dates the Employee of the Month. It's a typical, sophomoric comedy, but if you like sophomoric comedies, you should find it to be pretty funny.

"Gridiron Gang" (Rated PG-13 for some startling scenes of violence, mature thematic

material and language.) When juvenile detention officer Sean Porter (played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) sees kids continuously returning to jail, he realizes something must change. Porter decides to start a prison football team. Unfortunately, the kids he has to coach are from rival gangs and they have no idea how to become a team. Porter and his assistant coach (Xzibit) must find a way to settle the violent differences between the players and create a cohesive team. With a little determination, these boys could actually become winners when they set aside their differences and join the "Gridiron Gang."
