Rules being enforced at Take It or Leave It What is different is that since the Department of Public Works took over operation of the trading post from Waste Options on July 1, 2006 and hired two part-time attendants to man the place, the rules have been enforced. DPW Director Jeff Willett said many items that used to be left at the TILI, such as upholstered furniture and mattresses, were dumped by people who did not want to pay to dispose of them by going over the landfill scale. That behavior is no longer tolerated. Bedding, including blankets and pillows, is also prohibited, in part because of concerns over potential insect infestation that could be passed on to an otherwise clean home. - ML |
