      When Marine Superintendent Dave Fronzuto and Town Biologist Keith Conant turned the waters of Second Bend into a nursery for scallop seed, it was unbeknownst to the Shellfish & Harbor Advisory Board (SHAB) which only warmed to the idea after Fronzuto explained his reasoning.

      It may seem trivial to haggle over sand grain size, or what happens to shoals when sand is taken away from them when one ponders the volume of sand under the ocean. But the Conservation Commission, and many Nantucketers, considers every grain of sand, and every shoal and species of sea life to be an integral part of a larger marine ecosystem.

     Health Inspector Richard Ray leads the pack at the first Harpoon Run & Rally in the Alley that took place last Saturday. Over 30 island motorcycle enthusiasts rode to 'Sconset and back to benefit the Nantucket Charitable Riders Association Fund. The rally was initiated by Christy Kickham, Dennis Parks and Brian Murphy to foster camaraderie among island bikers and to raise funds for island charities, and was hosted by the Rose and Crown, Dennis Parks Plumbing and Nantucket Choppers.
