ON THE WINNING TRACK
The varsity field hockey team cracked the win column by turning back Fall River's Durfee High School last Friday, 1-0, on a corner shot by Grace Anne Tornovish, on an assist from Cassie Moran. The team continued its winning ways by turning back Wareham Saturday, 3-0. "I hope this steamrolls into our busy week," coach Lori Moran said, referring to a slate of away games, including contests against Martha's Vineyard and Falmouth. The team is not scheduled to play another home game until Oct. 7, when Norwood visits the island. The junior varsity also did well over the weekend, defeating Durfee, 5-0, and Wareham, 5-0. BIRDS OF NANTUCKET
WHY NOT A NANTUCKETWARBLER?
Ever hear of Cape May? Maybe you've been there. It's way down at the bottom of New Jersey, a part of the state most interstate travelers never see. It's a funnel pointing to a large expanse of salt water where Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean meet and it's a Mecca for bird watchers in the autumn. Non-birders enjoy the beaches and Victorian architecture.

LIVING THE DREAM
I'm a big fan of the movie "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." Not the new version, the one with Johnny Depp. After all, we're on Nantucket here, where tradition reigns supreme, so I'm sticking with the original on this one.
