Field Notes
      CYCLE-LOGICAL RUMBLINGS No longer must cyclists navigate the heavy traffic of Old South Road, nor must those on foot walk a dangerous narrow trail along the roadside to reach their destinations. The Old South Road bike path, having been partially ready and open since last summer, is now complete from the Rotary out to the intersection of Old South Road and Macy's Lane.

The Lighthouse Keeper
      POLITICS, ONCE AGAIN It was suggested last week, at the end of the first selectmen's meeting I had attended in quite a while, that this column go back to politics. The implication was there had been enough lollygagging, what with trips, digressions with Hawkeye, musings on tip jars and bashing the service provided by large, faceless corporations.

      My dog was born on the beach. Under an overturned skiff. If he could, he would spend every waking hour by or in the water. He loves to roll in the sand and jump in the waves. He will retrieve floating object well off shore. He will jump in and swim with me in heavy surf or flat calm.
