I ON THE COURT Nantucket Court Report Two of the local teenagers arrested Dec. 13 on multiple felony breaking and entering charges were back in District Court on Monday and had their cases continued to Jan. 8. Adam Jenkins, 17, of 51 Miacomet Avenue, has been held on probation detention since the daytime building break-ins and Monday the judge set a $1,000 cash bail on his new charges. Jenkins also faces a probation violation hearing relating to his Sept. 24 charges of receiving stolen property valued at more than $250 and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Michael A. Kittila, 17, of Pine Grove Lane, is a co-defendant with Jenkins. He has the same five felony charges against him and also returns to court on Jan. 8. Kittila was released last week on $500 bail. Names of three other defendants were not given because they are minors. Assistant District Attorney Chris Shea told the judge on Monday that additional charges are pending in the Dec. 13 case. It is alleged that the teens broke into five homes in the West Miacomet area and also stole up to five vehicles. Detective Lt. Jerry Adams said all the vehicles and most of the items taken from the homes have been recovered. Jenkins was the first person apprehended by Officer John Muhr and his canine Arno along with Officer Bret Morneau after one of the cars was abandoned. The investigation is still underway. Andre Bovan, 20, of Hyannis, Mass., is a co-defendant with Jenkins in the Sept. 24 case. It is charged that they broke into several vehicles at the airport and took items such as golf clubs. On Monday, Bovan admitted to receiving stolen property valued at more than $250, a felony, and had his case continued 18 months without a finding. The same sentence was imposed concurrently for his admission to using a vehicle without authority which was taken from the airport lot. Bovan and Jenkins were jointly ordered to pay $407 in restitution. In other court news, Kimberly L. Baker, 25, formerly of Delaney Road, was scheduled for a Feb. 5 jury trial and a hearing on probation matters. She was charged on Feb. 5 with driving under the influence of alcohol and on Sept. 25 with assault and battery. In a case from 2005 she was charged with negligent driving and that case was continued without a finding. Stephen D. Bedient, 44, of 51 Hooper Farm Road, will have an Oct. 31 charge of driving an uninsured vehicle dismissed with $100 court costs. Wilma R. Boles, 40, of 4 Cartwright Place, had an Oct. 29 charge of driving with a suspended license dismissed and was assessed $35 for a light violation. Mark Clinton, 39, of Wareham, Mass., had his case continued to Jan. 22. He was charged March 21 with drug possession with intent to distribute and on Aug. 13 with intimidating a witness and violation of a protective order. Miles P. Coleman, 18, of 119 Hummock Pond Road, will have an Oct. 21 charge of driving without a license dismissed with $100 court costs and was found not responsible for unsafe driving. Chad Demarco, 18, of Dover, Mass., admitted to cocaine possession with intent to distribute on Aug. 12. That case was continued for a year without a finding and he must remain alcohol and drug free and submit to testing. Charges of illegal possession of fireworks, being a minor possessing alcohol and drug possession were dismissed. Bradley Ellis, 19, of 3 Milestone Crossing, had a probation violation notice withdrawn. Christina Fahey, 38, of 49 Pleasant St., had her case continued to Jan. 8. She was charged on Oct. 17 with driving with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered, uninspected vehicle. Robert A. Francis, 32, of 39 Dukes Road, admitted to negligent driving on Oct. 9 and had his case continued six months without a finding. Elizabeth Gallipoli, 28, of 12 Longwood Drive, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 10 and had her case continued one year without a finding. She must take the driver alcohol program and had her license suspended for 45 days. She was found not responsible for driving outside marked lanes. Awarrant was to issue at 4 p.m. for Jared K. Hall, 28, of 60R Hummock Pond Road, charged Nov. 26 with driving with a suspended license. Hubert D. Hanniford, 41, of 16 Cynthia Lane, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 5 and had his case continued one year without a finding. He must take the driver alcohol program and had his license suspended for 45 days. He was found not responsible for driving outside marked lanes. Joseph S. Hayes, 28, of 23 Woodland Drive, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 4 and had his case continued one year without a finding. He must take the driver alcohol program and had his license suspended for 45 days. He was found not responsible for not having an inspection sticker. A warrant was to issue at 4 p.m. for Gregory Huber, 22, of Winchester, Mass., charged Aug. 1 with driving without a license. Karen Y. Kozlowski, 43, of 51 Miacomet Avenue, admitted to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a vehicle) on Oct. 16 and had her case continued one year without a finding. She must remain alcohol and drug free and submit to testing. Ronald M. MacGregor, 43, of 18 Gloucester St., admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 10 and had his case continued one year without a finding. He must take the driver alcohol program and had his license suspended for 45 days. He was found not responsible for driving outside marked lanes. Michael T. Miller, 49, of 8 Meeting House Lane, had his case continued to Jan. 8. He was charged Sept. 4 with driving an uninsured, unregistered vehicle and abandoning a vehicle. Jared W. Parsons, 32, of 3 Swayze Drive, admitted to negligent driving on Sept. 2 and was found guilty. He will be on probation for one year and must take the driver alcohol program. A charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was dismissed, he was found not responsible for driving over marked lanes, and was found responsible for driving with an open container of alcohol. Manuel Rojas, 38, of 20 West York St., had his case continued to Jan. 29. He was charged Dec. 14 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an unregistered vehicle with a suspended license, a lights violation, not wearing a seat belt and making an improper turn. Geoffrey T. Silva, 42, of 6 Bayberry Lane, had his case continued to Jan. 16. He was charged Dec. 12 with driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to yield or wear a seat belt. AmberWilde, 24, of Nantucket, will have a Dec. 16 charge of disturbing the peace dismissed with $100 court costs. Muriel E. Woolfolk, 46, of 14 Cambridge St., had her case continued to Jan. 29. She was charged Dec. 16 with two counts of drug possession. Alex A. Young, 21, of 8 Equator Drive, admitted to negligent driving on July 22 and had his case continued one year without a finding, during which time he must remain alcohol free. He was found not responsible for speeding and driving outside marked lanes. Edmundas Zakaras, 24, of 11 Essex Road, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 16 and had his case continued one year without a finding. He must take the driver alcohol program and had his license suspended for 45 days. Acharge of failing to stop for police was continued six months without a finding and he was assessed $100 court costs. He was found not responsible for not wearing a seat belt and failing to yield and responsible for speeding. Zhelyazko Zamanchev, 29, of 28 Macy Lane, paid due costs from his Dec. 4, 2005 charge of driving under the influence and had the case dismissed. — Compiled by Mary Lancaster |
