I ON SELECTMEN
AT ITS MEETING DEC. 13, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:
• Heard an update on the new roundabout from Transportation Planner Mike Burns who said the project is on schedule except for uncontrollable weather delays.

• Had a presentation from Rep. Eric Turkington to election workers Frank Psaradelis and Manny Dias giving them citations of appreciation for their decades of service.
• Continued the hearing on approving renewal of the annual liquor and entertainment licenses for The Muse to Dec. 20 (See related story).
• Unanimously voted (Chadwick recused) to grant a sewer permit waiver for Nantucket Homes for People so it can obtain financing and building permits.
• Unanimously voted (Stover recused) to approve a Town Clerk’s request for appointment of election officers.
• Heard an in-depth report on recommendations from the Sewer Advisory Committee (Inquire at the selectmen’s administrative office for copies).
• Reviewed the FY08 general fund budget with Town Administrator Libby Gibson.
• Heard reports from selectmen as representatives on other committees and work groups learning that tonight the board will hear a report from the Auto Limit Study Committee (See related story).

• Reviewed the FY08 projected solid waste and sewer enterprise fund budgets. An anticipated $375,300 loss is seen in the solid waste fund with revenue expected to be $8.2 million against $8.6 million in expenses.
• Reviewed the five-year general fund budget forecast.
• Reviewed the status of the town’s 2 Fairgrounds Road development. A final space needs report is expected in early 2007 to be presented to the selectmen, which should show which town offices are better located downtown and which would be suited for 2 Fairgrounds. Following the presentation a request for proposals for the public safety facility will issue. A capital request for construction will go to the 2008 Town Meeting voters. Next winter a community/cultural/arts center work group will be established.
Yesterday the selectmen met at 9 a.m. in a workshop to discuss action on its goal to manage growth.
AT ITS MEETING TONIGHT, DEC. 20, THE SELECTMEN WILL: • Continue the discussion on renewing liquor and entertainment licenses for The Muse.

• Hold a public hearing to review applications for a vacancy on the Finance Committee with an appointment scheduled for Jan. 3. As of Friday, the only application was from Matt Mulcahy who is an at-large member of the Capital Programs Committee and has run his own small business for 16 years.
• Hold a public hearing on a request from National Grid and Verizon to install a new pole and relocate an existing pole on Nobadeer Farm Road to Yawkee Way.
• Hold a public hearing on a petition from National Grid to install a new pole and relocate an existing pole at 82/84 Wauwinet Road because of a new driveway.
• Hold a public hearing on a National Grid request to construct 100 feet of underground electric conduit along North Beach Street near Arbour Way.
• Hold a public hearing to consider granting Global Restaurant Management d/b/a Lo La 41 an annual alcoholic beverage license and allow expansion of the South Beach Street restaurant to include a patio with seating for 12 patrons.
• Hear a citizen request from the ’Sconset Bluff Preservation Fund to allow submittal of a notice of intent to the Conservation Commission for an erosion control project.

• Hear a request from Earth Tech to allow Carlin Contracting a variance from the town’s noise bylaw so it can begin work on the upgrades to the Surfside Wastewater Treatment Facility at 7 a.m., a half hour earlier than such work is currently allowed to begin. The variance is requested to extend from Dec. 4 of this year through Nov. 30, 2008.
• Will hear from the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority advisory board regarding a request for the appointment of Mickey Rowland as a non-voting disabled commuter representative to the board.
