OBITUARIES
WILLIAM RAMSAY CHANDLER William Ramsay Chandler, of Woodbury, Connecticut, a summer resident of Nantucket throughout his youth, died on October 11, 2006. He was born and grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and attended The Episcopal Academy in Overbrook, Pennsylvania and Harvard College. He served as a pilot in the United States Navy during World War II and was employed by the Waterbury National Bank after the war, starting the Automatic Center of Connecticut as a division of the bank. He then founded Data Pack, Inc., providing automatic accounting services and payroll processing for many Connecticut businesses. He was instrumental in bringing banking into the computer age. He is survived by his wife, Harriet, and their children, Michael Chandler, Tammis Biraben, Nicholas and Peter Chandler, and eight grandchildren and his brother, Dr. Alfred D. Chandler, and sisters, Dr. Nina Murray and Sophie Consagra.
MARY MERRILL (QUITA) CHANDLER PARRISH Mary Merrill (Quita) Chandler Parrish, of Viewtown, Virginia, a life long summer resident of Nantucket, died October 9, 2006. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa. and Smith College. She and her husband, Isaac L. Parrish, managed a large farm in Rappahanock County, Virginia. She was active in helping the Race Committee of the Nantucket Yacht Club after her youth as a competitive sailor at the Club. She is survived by her four children, Christopher Parrish, Merill Strange, Laura Heyward, and Carol Clark, thirteen grandchildren, and her brother, Dr. Alfred D. Chandler, and sisters, Dr. Nina Murray and Sophie Consagra.
