Beatles "Love"
Musicall 4 East Chestnut Street 228-9306 Ironically titled, given Sir Paul's current romantic turmoil, "Love" melds songs and snippets of songs from the Beatles catalogue in a seamless continuum of music that covers everything, like a great, big, psychedelic aural blanket. Sir George Martin and his son, Giles, produced the CD - which borrowed a page from the mash-up notebook on fluidity and experimentation with snippet overlays. Bound to be on millions of Christmas lists, this is an album that will delight even Beatles fans who think they've heard it all.

"Adele and Simon" by Barbara McClintock This is a lovely picture book for children (ages 4-8) about a brother and sister who walk through early- 20th century Paris on a voyage of discovery after school. Stopping at real historic locations, Simon always loses something - inviting readers on a seeking game that introduces Adele and Simon to figures like Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, who help Simon find his crayons in the Louvre.

Nantucket Bookworks 25 Broad Street 228-4000 The novel "Desertion" by Zanzibarian writer Abdulrazak Gurnah begins in 1899, when a neardead Englishman stumbles into an Indian community on the Kenyan coast and is nursed to health and befriended by the family of a merchant. When he falls in love with the man's sister, there begins a long series of events that highlight the complicated interactions among the colonial English authorities, the Indians and the native community. It's a closely observed look at a society where nuance rules every gesture and relationship.

VIDEOS

Camera Shop & Nantucket Video 32 Main Street 228-0101 The usual suspects are back in this sequel. Sid the Sloth (John Leguizamo), Manny the Mammoth (Ray Romano), and Diego the Tiger (Dennis Leary) must lead all of the animals in their valley to higher ground, due to rising temperatures melting the ice dam that protects the valley. Newcomer Queen Latifah adds a fun element as Manny's love interest.

"Little Athens" (Rated R for drug and sexual

content, pervasive language

and some violence.)

In the tiny town of Athens, there are

no malls, no nightclubs and no outside entertainment. Bored with the life they are stuck in, the young people of "Little Athens" create their own excitement. Jimmy steals from his drug dealer. Heather follows her boyfriend, Derek, to determine whether or not he is cheating on her. Corey and Pedro try to sell a stolen car. And Jessica recruits help to beat up an abusive boyfriend. All the characters end up at a house party where all of their lives collide. Fueled by a powerful soundtrack, "Little Athens" shows how much drama boredom can create.

"Ice Age: Meltdown" Rated PG for some mild language and innuendo.)
