Nantucket teams victorious in 11th annual Seaside Bowl
In what has evolved into an anticipated football weekend, the Boys and Girls Club played host to the visiting contingent from Wells, Maine Saturday and won all three of its contests.

The feature game between the seventh and eighth grade teams lived up to its billing as the main event, as Nantucket came back and held on for the victory, 26-24. A last ditch pass attempt by the visitors to win fell just shy, an exciting finish to a full day of football.

Mike Molta scored three times for Nantucket, with his third touchdown providing the winning margin. Jake Molloy also scored on a nice, 50-yard run up the middle. Defensive standouts were Matt Bulmer, who intercepted two passes; Michael McInerney; Andrew Benson, who also intercepted a pass with Steven Reis providing fine downfield blocking. Taylor Hughes put in a good game at quarterback, and helped lead his team to a 5-2 season record going into this Saturday's contest against Martha's Vineyard.

In the sixth grade matchup, Corey Woolfolk scored on a punt return, and Sean Davis scored on an interception for all the points Nantucket would need in a 12-0 victory. The fourth and fifth graders won the early morning contest, 22-2. Touchdown scorers were: Jake Metz (Ryan Allen on the conversion); Zach VonKampen; LK Metz (Will Ferreira on the conversion).

Jake Metz (above) scored a touchdown in his team's 22-2 win, while Michael Molta (below) contributed three TDs for the middle school squad.
