I ON SELECTMEN
CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, MEMBERS: + Heard an announcement that the town clock in the Unitarian Church will be under repair for about two weeks this month. + Unanimously approved a request to change the manager listed on the seasonal liquor license for Nantucket Yacht Club from Tom Pochman to Peter McEachern. + Unanimously approved a town clerk's request for appointments of seven new election officers to serve one-year terms. + Unanimously approved a request from the Adult Community Day Center to allow ACDC to accept a gift of $500 from Nantucket Island Resorts.
+ Disapproved a request from the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club for waiver of a tent permit fee, but selectman Brian Chadwick said he will pay the $100 fee because he supports the club even though he does not believe the board should waive these costs. + Heard a town administrator's review of the state's 40B laws relating to municipal oversight. An attorney from Town Counsel's office explained that the town can seek an independent audit after a developer submits his final costs to ensure the 20 percent profit allowed for a 40B is valid. There may be further discussion on the subject at tonight's meeting. + Unanimously approved an offer by selectman Chadwick to donate two bottles of wine given him by the mayor of Beaune, France when he, his daughter Jennifer, 15, and former selectman Michael Glowacki visited the town on Oct. 18 to 22 as part of the sister city arrangement between Beaune and Nantucket approved earlier this year. Chadwick said he could not accept the wine as a personal gift so he will donate one bottle to Our Island Home and the other to Hospice of Nantucket. He will also give Hospice two books he received on France's Burgundy region and a wine cup, all of which can be used in Hospice fundraiser auctions. Chadwick stressed that no public money was used for the trip.
