Egan Maritime's Press unveils Stackpole reprinting At this week's Chamber After Hours, the Egan Maritime Foundation and its affiliate, Mill Hill Press of Nantucket, will unveil a new edition of 1932's classic young adult novel, "You Fight for Treasure!" by Nantucket's late and great historian, Edouard A. Stackpole (1903-93). In his day, Stackpole was a prolific maritime historian and also the director of the Nantucket Historical Association's Peter Foulger Museum. "You Fight for Treasure!" is a sequel to Stackpole's "Smuggler's Luck" (reprinted by Mill Hill Press with hale response in 2005).

"Treasure" continues the adventures of Timothy Pinkham, a Nantucket boy caught up in the turmoil following the American Revolution - when smugglers, pirates, privateers and the British Navy prowled the seas and made each voyage an exciting

gamble. In the story, Pinkham rallies his seafaring allies to help rescue his father, who has been kidnapped by Algerian pirates. Meanwhile, buried under the Nantucket sand and soil, a massive treasure lies hidden.

"In republishing these important novels we hope to reach out to a whole new generation of younger readers both on and off Nantucket," said Nathaniel Philbrick, chair of the editorial committee. (Mill Hill Press is dedicated to the publication of works focused on the history and people of Nantucket Island.)

The new printing features cover art and illustrations taken directly from the original. Edouard Stackpole's youngest son, Matthew, executive director of the Martha's Vineyard Historical Society, wrote the book's forward. He will attend the event at the Boys and Girls Club.

You can purchase the book at the Coffin School (4 Winter Street), through the Egan Maritime's website (www.eganmaritime.org) and at local bookstores. When: Thursday, Nov. 2, 5:30 p.m. Where: Nantucket Boys and Girls Club For more information, call the
